If you're exploring, trading, and interacting with your pack often, you'll quickly find that there's many items to collect while playing! While a lot of these items are used for food or amusement, lots have another important use: crafting! This is an extensive mechanic that allows you to use recipes found through regular gameplay to create applicators, backgrounds, and decors for your wolves.

Crafting is a mechanic that you're probably familiar with! With it, you can combine multiple, small items to make one rarer item! On Wolvden, crafting is used to create a variety of applicators, backgrounds, and decors for your wolves. The feature is pretty simple, but there are a couple things you should learn before you get into it.
How to Craft
How to Craft
The crafting menu is available through your Hoard. Click on the Crafting tab at the top of the page to access all of the crafting features!
On the Crafting page, you can find a list of all of the recipes you've already learned and view what ingredients you currently have in your Hoard for each recipe. You can toggle this list to show only recipes you are able to craft. Underneath this recipe list, you can craft Nesting Material for your pregnant wolves. On this page, we'll only discuss crafting with recipes-you can find information about Nesting Material on the Breeding page. The Crafting page also provides a link to your Recipe Collection, a page which lists all recipes in the game and lets you know how many you have learned!
Once you're on the Crafting page, you can select a recipe from the list to craft. The recipe's details will appear on the right side of the screen, alongside a Craft button if you have all of the required materials. Clicking Craft will remove the required materials from your Hoard and replace them with your new crafted item!
Remnants
Remnants
Many crafting recipes require a specific type of item: a Remnant. Remnants are items left over after you've fully used some food or amusement items. In order for an item to drop a remnant after it's used up, it must be included in a current crafting recipe. For example, using all 5 uses of a Bone will give you one Remnant: Bone. However, using all 6 uses of a Bighorn Skull, which is not used for crafting at the moment, will not give you any remnant. Food items which rot out of your Hoard will not drop a remnant. The remnant of a food or amusement item can no longer be used for food or amusement- it's purely for crafting now!
If a recipe calls for the remnant of an item, it can only be crafted using that remnant. You cannot use a regular version of the item in the recipe. For example, a recipe calling for a Remnant: Growth Chunk cannot be crafted with a regular Growth Chunk. The remnant of the item must be used instead.
Items which will drop a remnant are clearly marked in your Hoard and in the Item Catalogue. In your Hoard, click on the Drops Remnant checkbox in the upper right corner to display all items in your Hoard which can drop remnants. Clicking on one of these items will reveal the below banner, further specifying that it will drop a remnant once it's used up. This filter and banner are also available in the Item Catalogue.
Shredding
If you have a lot of items to collect remnants from and not enough wolves to interact with, don't fret! There's an alternative way to collect remnants from items called Shredding. Shredding is available as a tab in your Hoard, right next to Crafting.
In this menu, you can select up to 100 items at a time to shred into remnants. Shredding an item will give you a remnant of that item and a Meat Scraps or Amusement Scraps. The amount of uses on the Meat Scraps or Amusement Scraps directly correlates with the uses of the item being shredded. A food item with four uses will provide a Meat Scraps with four uses upon being shred. Meat Scraps are generic food items for your wolves, while Amusement Scraps are amusement items. Neither of these items are used for any crafting or questing.
You can only shred items which can drop a remnant. If the item cannot drop a remnant, it will not show up on the shredding list.
Recipes
Recipes
Recipes are the blueprints required for crafting, laying out what's required to create an item! You cannot craft an item unless you have found and learned its recipe. You can find recipes all throughout the game, and some are much rarer than others.
Types of Recipes
Types of Recipes
There are nine types of recipes represented by different colors of scrolls, each reflecting what will result from crafting using that recipe. Background recipes and applicator recipes have their own recipe types. When it comes to decorations, recipes are separated based on the general category of decoration. For example, all foliage decorations (trees, leaves, etc.) will have a foliage-type recipe. Lunar recipes also have their own scrolls, regardless of whether the item is a decoration or background.
These recipe types aren't reflective of how the recipe can be found, just of what the recipe will create!

Finding Recipes
Finding Recipes
There are multiple different methods of finding recipes while playing, all based on random chance.
The majority of recipes are found through exploring. Many explore encounters have a rare, random chance of dropping a certain category of recipe, or even a specific recipe! Only a couple encounters are guaranteed to give you a recipe, especially if you sacrifice an item like an Acorn to the encounter. Some recipes may only be found if you offer another item in the encounter, while others drop from a simple choice. In the full recipe list below, recipes which drop from explore encounters will have their encounters listed.
Many recipes are dropped occasionally as battle trophies. These recipes can be earned after you've reached level 10, from winning battles against enemies level 5 and higher. Recipes drop in the same way as regular enemy trophy items-there's just a small chance of one dropping when the battle is won, and the recipe you earn may be dependent on what enemy you beat! Some battling recipes can be dropped from any enemy while others only drop from specific enemies. You can find lists of all battle enemies from the Battle Enemies page. Any recipe which drops as a trophy will also have the required enemy types labeled in the full recipe list below.
Other recipes may drop from foraging with your herbalist. You can send your herbalist out to forage from the Herbalist page in order to collect herbs and gain proficiency and experience. Rarely, your herbalist may return with a random recipe! The recipes obtained through foraging all require herbs to be crafted. There are no level or proficiency requirements for your herbalist to be able to find recipes, it's just a very rare chance!
A smaller amount of recipes may be rarely brought back with your scout after rescouting a biome. Rescouting can be completed after you've fully scouted the first three biomes. After this, visit a biome you've already fully discovered to find the rescouting menu at the bottom of the page. There are no level or proficiency requirements for your scout to be able to bring a recipe back from rescouting, but you must make sure that you are sending them to rescout and not simply scout! If your scout is discovering a biome regularly, and not scouting an already-discovered biome, they will not be able to find a recipe. All recipes currently found through rescouting are applicator and pose variant recipes.
There is no limit to the amount of recipes that you can find, and you may get duplicates of recipes you have already learned from any source.
One special explore encounter available alongside February’s The Matchmaker event can drop any recipe in the game, regardless of how the recipe is normally obtained, so keep your eye out for the Pair of Rats during the February event!
Using Recipes
Using Recipes
Once you obtained a recipe, you must learn it to be able to craft an item from it! This can be done from your Hoard. Simple select the recipe, and then press the Learn Recipe button in the bottom right!
Learning a recipe will add it to your Crafting list, permanently enabling you to craft the item from it. There is no case where you will forget a recipe, unlearn a recipe, or lose a recipe on your list, even when you switch your lead wolf. The only way to add a recipe to your crafting list is by learning the recipe from your Hoard.

Full Recipe List
There is currently a total of 247 recipes on Wolvden, which is made up of 16 applicators, 70 backgrounds, and 161 decors.
Every decoration and background recipe can be previewed by clicking on the item thumbnail!
Additionally, each recipe will have a link to a page containing information on where the recipes can be obtained. Brief details are provided beneath, using some specific terminology:
Dropped rarely means this recipe is a rare drop, and is not guaranteed.
Dropped occasionally means this recipe drops from an encounter with multiple different results.
Dropped occasionally and randomly means this recipe drops from an encounter with multiple different results, one of which is a random pool of recipes.
Dropped randomly means this recipe is guaranteed to drop, but from a random pool of recipes.
Dropped when means this recipe is guaranteed to drop always.
One explore encounter available during February, the Pair of Rats, can drop any recipe in the game, regardless of their listed source(s). If you’ve found a recipe from a source besides what’s listed, and it’s not the Pair of Rats encounter, please let us know!
Quick Links
Quick Links
Below is a list of hyperlinks you can use to jump to recipes instead of scrolling. In order for the quick links to work properly, the sections they go to must not be collapsed. If you are having issues with the links, make sure the appropriate sections are expanded. The links are categorized into applicators, backgrounds, and decors; all of which are alphabetized.
