Wolvden uses a unit that you may not be familiar with... the rollover! You'll see the word frequently around the site, and it's used to represent two different things.

But first, what is a rollover? Every day at 00:00 (midnight), Wolvden moves one day forward. This process is called a rollover. Logging in at or after this time prompts you to rollover your account, moving every part of your account one day forward with the rest of the game. If you do not rollover, no changes will happen to your account until you rollover again. As such, failing to rollover for a month will essentially freeze your account for that month. The site's rollover and your own individual rollover are separate - you do not have to rollover your account at midnight, you can do it any time throughout the day as long as you haven't already rolled your account over for that day. 00:00 server time is simply when account rollover becomes available.

This friendly puppy will greet you on the rollover page!

When someone refers to a rollover, they could be talking about server time 00:00 when rollover occurs (ie. this will happen at rollover), or they could be using the word as a unit of time (ie. this will happen in two rollovers).

If you're unsure how long you have to wait until the next time you can rollover, you can find a handy countdown at the top of the Cooldowns page. Wolvden uses Mountain Standard Time all year round, and never observes Daylight Savings, so you can convert your timezone to MST to see what time rollover will happen for you.

Grouse Tip!
If you don't rollover, nothing changes with your account. If you want to take a break from the game, just make sure not to click the Rollover button! As soon as you want to start playing again, you can pick up your account exactly where you left it.

Rollover Changes

Rollover Changes

There's a lot that can happen when you rollover your account, and it's good to be prepared beforehand!

Rolling over applies the following changes to your account and pack:

  • All non-immortal wolves in your pack will age up 1/2 months.
  • Normal pack members that are older than 7 years 5.5 months will have the chance to randomly die.
  • If your lead wolf is older than 7 years 5.5 months, you will receive reminders about their retirement.
  • Lead wolves who turn 8 years old at rollover will retire, and you will be prompted to select a new lead wolf.
  • All non-immortal wolves lose hunger and mood. If the wolf is not pregnant or ill, they will lose 20% hunger and 10% mood. Pregnant wolves will lose 30% hunger and ill wolves will lose 20% mood. If you have the Strong Bonds talent equipped, wolves will lose only 5% mood if they are not ill and 15% if they are ill. If your wolf is ill with Tapeworms, they will lose 30% hunger instead of 20%.
  • Wolves will regain 4 HP if they have lost HP and not recovered yet. They will not regain HP if they have an illness that takes HP, and will instead lose HP. Unlike HP, energy is not regenerated on rollover.
  • All healthy wolves have a chance to randomly develop an illness if they are not currently in an illness cooldown period.
  • Contagious illnesses might spread to more of your wolves if the ill wolf is not isolated in their own cave. Nursing mothers have a 100% chance of passing their contagious illness to one of their pups on rollover.
  • Wolves with 0 HP and a lethal illness will die. Wolves at 0 HP without lethal illnesses will not die.
  • Pups who do not have 100% survival chance may get an injury or die.
  • Food that was outlined in red (rotting) from the previous day will disappear from your Hoard.
  • All puppies will suffer survival chance changes depending on their hunger and mood, or their mother's hunger and mood if they are still nursing.
  • Your Melvin's Missions reset.
  • If you completed your last daily quests or your previous quests expired, your can begin three new ones.
  • Minigames reset

Daily Rollover Summary

Daily Rollover Summary

Every time you rollover, a notification will be sent to your inbox describing what occurred that past rollover. These are very helpful to read, as they often contain important updates about your pack and account that you might otherwise miss!

Daily rollover summaries will contain a variety of useful information, such as the below:

  • Illnesses being contracted or spread between wolves
  • Birth announcements
  • Pup survival updates
  • Pupsitter experience gains and losses
  • Wolf deaths
  • Lead wolf retirement reminders

If you've rolled over on your birthday or the anniversary of creating your account, your daily rollover summary will include a note about the special gifts you get for this occasion. If there were no notable events, you will get a blank summary stating that there was nothing to report for the day.

Rollover Streaks

Rollover Streaks

Each consecutive day that you rollover, you will receive a reward! The rewards differ based on how long of a rollover streak you have achieved. Failing to rollover one day will break this streak and you will go back to Day 1. While most of the rewards don't necessary increase in rarity while the streak builds, completing one rollover streak of 29 days rewards you with a grand prize!

The rewards for rolling over reset after 29 days, meaning you will go back to Day 1 of a rollover streak after you've rolled over for 30 consecutive days.

How do I see how many times I have rolled over total?

A: There is not a counter built into the site to tell you how many total rollovers you have. However, you can get an idea of how long you have been playing by looking at the year counter on the lead wolf card in the sidebar. This counter will increase with your rollovers, with one year being added every 24 rollovers. In the example below, you can assume that this user has rolled over about 1224 times, since 51 years of 24 days equals 1224 total days.

You could also search in your User Log for when you have rolled over and count the entries, but note that your user log may not hold all of the times you have rolled over if it was very long ago.

If you are a new player and still use your first lead wolf, you can scroll to the bottom of their page, where it will tell you how many rollovers this lead wolf has been in your pack. Until you switch to a different lead wolf you didn't start out playing with, this value will be equal to your total rollovers.

Daily Activities

Daily Activities

There are many activities and tasks that you can complete daily. Your opportunities to complete these tasks reset every rollover. For some, you may get rewards or achievements for completing the tasks consecutively every time you rollover!

Daily Quests

Daily Quests

You can take three daily quests every rollover from the Questing page. These quests will send you all around the game to complete tasks for the snake, from hunting, to fishing, and everything in between! After taking your quests, you have exactly 24 hours to complete them, but you do not have to wait exactly 24 hours for new quests if you finish early. You can always take three new quests right after rollover if your quests from the previous day are completed.

You can learn more about questing on the Questing page!

Melvin's Missions

Melvin's Missions

Every rollover, Melvin the Mouse will appear on your sidebar with five new tasks to complete. These tasks are usually very simple and easily completed through normal gameplay. Completing all five missions will add one rollover to your streak counter, and reward you with Silver Cones. The higher your mission streak, the larger the bonus you get from completing all five missions each day! After you've completed the five missions for the day, the Melvin widget will disappear from your sidebar. It will come back after your next rollover when Melvin has five new quests for you.

You can read more about Melvin's missions on the Questing page!

Enclave Puppy Quests

Enclave Puppy Quests

You can take three puppy quests at the Enclave each rollover! These quests will task you with finding a puppy with a specific trait to return to Lillemor the bear in exchange for a Silver Cone prize. If you've gotten a puppy quest that you can't complete, don't worry! You can skip these quests as many times per rollover as you'd like for an amusement item cost. Be aware that any puppy you submit for a puppy quest will be permanently deleted from the game, so make sure not give up a pup you're attached to. Once you've completed three puppy quests, you'll have to wait until the next rollover to take three more.

You can read more about puppy quests on the Enclave page!

Minigames

Minigames

Wolvden has multiple minigames that reward hourly or daily prizes. You can find all of these on the Games page. We'll detail the minigames which have a rollover-related reset below, and you can learn about the rest of them on the Games wiki page.

In the Fishing minigame, you can submit a maximum of 30 fish every rollover. There's no limit on how many you can catch every rollover, just how many you can submit for a prize, so you can keep fishing until you find more valuable fish to submit. After you've submitted 30 fish, you are welcome to keep fishing for fun, but you won't be able to earn any more prizes. After rollover, you'll be able to submit more fish again!

The Lottery is a daily raffle that you can enter once per rollover. You can purchase one ticket for 10 SC for a chance at winning the grand prize of 500 SC or a runner-up prize of 50 SC. Lottery winners are pulled at 00:45 every day for the previous day's entrants. So, if you forgot to enter for the day, you have 45 minutes after rollover before the winners are decided to submit a last-minute ticket. After the winners for the previous day are decided, the lottery opens up again at 01:00.

Code Breaker is a puzzle game you can earn one prize from once per rollover. While you can play the game as many times as you'd like each day, you can only submit a score for a prize once per day. After you've submitted a score and earned a prize, you'll have to wait until the next rollover to earn your next prize. The higher your score, the higher your chance at getting a rare prize!

Weekly Activities

Weekly Activities

In addition to all of the daily-reset activities detailed above, a couple activities reset weekly corresponding with Wolvden's weekly community updates.

Community Raffle

Community Raffle

Wolvden hosts an official raffle once per week, opening on Friday evening and closing early the next Friday morning. You can find a link to the week's official raffle in the Community Update posted every week. You can also search for the raffle in the Raffle Hub manually using these parameters. The raffle's prizes most frequently include applicators, decorations, or backgrounds from the most recent or ongoing events. You can purchase a maximum of one ticket for the raffle at a price of 5 Silver Cones.

You can read more about the weekly official raffle on the Raffle Hub or Community Updates pages!

Raffle Stud

Raffle Stud

Each week, players can enter a raffle for a chance to breed one of their wolves to a unique, customized stud with exclusive traits. These studs are designed by admins weekly and released alongside the Community Update. Typically, the raffle winners are pulled shortly before the Community Update is posted. If you've won a breeding to the raffle stud, you have one week, until the following Friday, to breed to the stud from the Raffle Stud page. All previous raffle studs are stored in the Raffle Stud Pack.

You can read more about raffle studs on the Raffle Studs page!

Weekly Poll

Weekly Poll

A final weekly activity released alongside the Community Update is the weekly Poll. Through these polls, Wolvden admins can gauge the playerbase's opinion on certain topics such as upcoming features or collect feedback on recent events. Occasionally, polls may be fun, joke polls or repeat polls from the previous week.

You can view an archive of all previous polls alongside dates and context on the Poll Archive page!
