It's the season of love! Your packmates and wolves from other packs have been mingling and socializing, and there's been an abundance of frolicking going on. This month, work with a new friend to build long-lasting matches and meet romantic interests of your own!
The Matchmaker event is a recurring event, happening every February and lasting the whole month. The event begins at 00:00 on February 1st and ends at 23:59 on February 28th or 29th.
Event Basics
The Matchmaker event is full of activities and a wide variety of new mechanics to explore. Not only do you get to form matches between other wolves, but you get to date wolves yourself! Alongside this, a variety of new explore encounters can keep you entertained.
This event has an exclusive currency, 
Lovebugs, which are obtained through exploring, dating, and matchmaking. Lovebugs can be exchanged in the event shop for special items!
Special Event Items
When exploring during this event, you'll happen across some new, unique items! These special items are used in dating-some wolves like them, while other wolves may not. In addition to this, some of these items are used for crafting and others are planned to be so in the future.
The items are found while exploring under specific conditions. Each item and the exploring conditions or biome required to find them are listed below! For example, if the item says "Deciduous Forest", it can only be found while exploring in the Deciduous Forest. If the item says "Sunny", it can be found in any biome, but only while it is Sunny weather in that biome.
Daily Quests
After you've started the Meet the Matchmaker storyline, you'll have access to daily quests which will grant Lovebugs, new applicants to your matchmaking agency, and one new dateable wolf if you don't already have them all!
You can take the quest once per rollover from the [Matchmaker page]. Eranthis will task you with advertising their matchmaking agency to other wolves who you come across while exploring. Each quest will require you to advertise to 5 wolves. In order to complete this quest, you can just explore normally! When you happen across a befriendable wolf, you'll notice a new option has appeared. Spreading the Word to one befriendable wolf will count as one wolf for your quest. After you've done this five times, you can navigate back to the Matchmaker page to complete the quest.
The reward for completing a daily quest is 5 Lovebugs. You will also get 5 new applicants to your matchmaking agency and one new dateable wolf. If you've already obtained all of the dateable wolves you're able to, that part of the reward will be left out.
If you don't complete the quest before rollover, it will reset, and you will have to start over with a new quest the next day, so make sure you get your quest finished in time!
Achievements
Alongside this event comes 12 achievements you can work hard to earn! You can find these on the Events tab of your Achievements page, which you can get to from your Profile page or the dropdown by your username. These achievements can only be earned during this event, so get them while you can! None of these achievements provide any reward, but marking them as complete can be satisfying!

Meet the Matchmaker - February Storyline
This event introduces a brand-new wolf, Eranthis! They're the owner of a matchmaking business, and are very interested in finding love for other wolves! You'll be able to meet them on the Events page by clicking the Meet the Matchmaker banner. Eranthis will introduce you to the event's two primary mechanics-Matchmaking and Dating-and help get you set up to start going on your own dates, too!

Matchmaking
At the beginning of the event, Eranthis will introduce you to Matchmaking! Matchmaking is one of two primary event activities you'll be able to explore for an opportunity to gain event currency. You can access Matchmaking through the Matchmaker page, and the Matching banner.
In addition to Lovebug rewards, making matches between wolves in your matchmaking agency will help progress the storyline!
Matchmaking can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but we hope we can help simplify it for you.
Upon visiting the Matchmaking page, you'll find three tabs. The Matching tab is where you can set up dates between wolves in your agency. The Current Wolves tab is where you can view all of the wolves you currently have in your agency. Finally, the Dates tab is where you can view any of the active dates you've sent out.
Finding Single Wolves for Your Agency
In order to start pairing wolves together and setting up dates, you'll need wolves to join your matchmaking agency. Luckily, you'll start out with seven wolves, eager to meet their matches, and you'll have plenty of opportunity to gather more wolves throughout the event!
After Eranthis' introduction to the mechanic and the free wolves they provide you, you'll have to work on recruiting your own wolves. You can have a total of 10 wolves in your agency at any given time.
Recruiting new wolves can be done in the Current Wolves tab of the Matchmaking page. Here, you'll find a Check for Applicants button... click this to check if there's any new wolves waiting to join your agency! You can check for applicants once per hour. Every time you check for applicants, you'll get one more wolf interested in joining your agency, who you can then accept to join. You have to option to deny entry to this wolf if their traits don't match up well with your other members.
In addition to the one wolf per hour, every time you complete a daily quest, you will get 5 new applicants to your agency. You can stack as many applicants as you need until you have enough room to accept them.
The wolves who you can recruit into your agency are randomly generated and can have any combination of traits and preferences! This means it may take a few tries to get wolves who are perfectly compatible, but it may be worth the wait for a larger LB reward!
If you've accepted a wolf who truly seems incompatible with any others, however, you can also remove them from your agency by clicking the trash icon next to their name on the Current Wolves page. This will prompt you with a confirmation to make sure you'd like to remove the wolf. If so, the wolf will politely leave your agency, and open up a spot for another recruit later on. Removing a wolf in this way does not automatically replace them-you still have to wait to recruit another applicant yourself.
Setting up Dates
Your matchmaking agency is full of eager singles ready to date... so, what now? Once you've gotten some wolves in your agency, the next step is setting them up on dates!
When setting up a date between two wolves, the goal is to pair wolves with the most likes in most compatibility between traits. On the [Matching] page, you can select a wolf from the first dropdown menu to view all of their traits and preferences.
Wolves you pair must have compatible gender preferences. For example, you may pick any gender to pair with Topher above, since Topher likes all genders, but the wolf must also have a preference for male wolves, since Topher is male. If you do not have any compatible wolves, none will appear in the dropdown, and you will have to recruit more to find a pair.
 | Each wolf has associated traits, likes, and dislikes. You can view a wolf's traits by click on their name on the Current Wolves page, or by selecting their name in the dropdown on the Matching page. You will be able to see at a glance how many dates the wolf has been on, which gender(s) they prefer, their base, eyes, and personality, as well as which category of each of these traits and gifts they prefer. These will be helpful with pairing them with the perfect match! The more the wolves you pair like each other, the larger your reward will be when you match them! |
After you have selected two wolves, they'll share their opinions of each other to help give you an idea of how the date might go. This is based off of their compatibility, so pay close attention! For a match to be successful, you should ensure that the wolves don't like each others' traits, and that they have similar interests! You can use these opinions to predict how many points the date will earn, detailed below.
Once you've confirmed the wolves' compatibility, you can send them on a date! Beforehand, though, you'll have to give the wolves each gifts to give to each other, as well as choose a biome for them to visit. Make sure that the gifts and the biome you picked correspond with each wolves' preferences! When you send the wolves out together, each date will take 15 minutes to complete. Once they return, you'll earn Lovebugs as a reward!
Matching Point System
This is a lot to take in... how can you ensure that two wolves you send on a date will be compatible enough for you to get a reward? Taking their opinions of each other into account before sending them on a date, you can calculate how many points the date will earn, which corresponds directly to how large your reward is when you match the wolves. In addition to the points gained from the wolves' opinions of each other, you'll also want to make sure to send them to biomes and give them gifts they like.
Each opinion and preference and their corresponding point value is listed below.

Curious how to get a "LOVED" trait or "ADORED" gift? Unfortunately, it's all random. Each matchable wolf has a hidden "superliked" gift and traits. If you happen to randomly give them the right gift, you'll get an extra point as a reward!
Matching Wolves
After you've had wolves return from a date, you can see how well it went. If the wolves liked each other, you might choose to Match them! You must match wolves together in order to earn the final reward and remove the wolves from your agency-just sending them on dates isn't enough. Before you make matches, however, you can send the wolves on two more dates with other wolves if you want to maximize their profits before seeing them off.
To form a match, visit the Matchmaking page again and select the two wolves from the dropdowns. If they've been on a date before, you'll now have an option to Match them. Matching wolves will reward you with Lovebugs. The amount you get will depend on how many points the couple earned on their date. The higher the points, the more LB you'll earn, with a maximum of three per match! If the wolves don't like each other, however, they may be so unhappy with the match that they will leave without paying you! To guarantee this doesn't happy, you'll only want to pair wolves with the highest date points as possible.
In order to guarantee getting 3 LB from a match, they must have gotten 6 or more points in the date.
To guarantee 2 LB from a match, you must get higher than 1 point.
If you the date got 0 points, you will get 1 LB from the match.
If you the wolves got negative points during their date, they will be so upset with the match that they will leave without giving you any reward.
Dating
While you could spend your time pairing other wolves together, what if you want your own match? Eranthis is here to help, by finding eligible dateables for you to meet!
Unlocking Dateable Wolves
After completing Eranthis' introduction to dating, you'll be given three random dateable wolves. Each day after this, you'll be able to unlock every eligible wolf through completing daily quests and storyline chapters!
Every daily quest will reward you with one new dateable, until you have unlocked all of your eligible options. At certain milestones throughout the event, you will also unlock more. After you have completed 5 dates, Eranthis will introduce you to two more dateable wolves. After you have completed 15 dates, you will unlock another 2.
Preferences
Each dateable wolf has a certain set of preferences that will determine how much affection you will be able to gain with them on each date. Some of these - personality, eye color, and base color - are related to your lead wolf's traits. The other preferences regarding gifts and biomes are related to the date itself. You can find lists of every dateable wolf's preferences in the All Dateable Wolves section of this page.
Each dateable wolf prefers a certain group of base and eye colors, and dislikes another. Note that these are not specific colors, but rather broad groups encompassing a few eye colors.
Base color groups are straightforward relating to Wolvden's current genetics. For example, if the dateable wolf likes Light Muted Bases, this means that they like any base in the Muted color category and the Light shade category, regardless of tier. Eye color groups are a little bit more unique. These groups are not listed anywhere else on site and are only used within dating. These are based on the general color of the eyes.
Each eye color group and the eyes associated with them are listed below. This list is from the 2023 run of the event. Any eye colors released since then will be added as we discover their category during the 2024 event.

Gifts and Dates
Once a day, you can give each wolf one gift and take them on one date, on which you also give them another gift.
Separately from the gift you give while on a date, you can gift each wolf one item per day! Each wolf has a liked gift and a disliked gift, and everything else is just considered "okay". If you want to gain affection quickly, make sure that you are gifting the wolf an item they like.
If the gift you give is Liked by the wolf, you will get 3 LB and +3 affection points with the wolf. If the wolf has no strong opinion about the gift you give, you will get 3 LB and +1 affection points with the wolf. If you give the wolf a gift they Dislike, you will get 3 LB and -3 affection points with the wolf.
Once a day, you can take each wolf on a date!
Each date lasts for 15 minutes, and you can only go on one date at a time. The reward for each date is 10 LB, and you may get positive or negative affection points depending on how it goes.
Before setting out, you'll have to choose which biome you want to visit. You can also choose to give the wolf a gift. Giving a gift on the date is optional, but strongly recommended as it can sway points in the right direction.
Each wolf has two liked biomes and two disliked biomes. Every other biome is just considered "okay".
Based on how the date goes, it will be assigned a point value. These points will then be converted into affection points! So, if you get a total date score of +7, you will also get +7 affection with the wolf.
The point values for each trait in dates are listed below. In order to get a perfect score, +8, on a date, you must match all of the wolf's preferences exactly. If none of the wolf's likes or dislikes are included on the date, you will not receive any affection changes.

Affection Milestones
 | Through gifting and going on dates, you will gain affection points with dateable wolves! Giving wolves gifts they like or love, visiting biomes they enjoy, and having traits they favor all contribute positively to their affection of you. On the other hand, giving wolves gifts they dislike, visiting biomes they don't enjoy, and having traits they dislike will contribute negatively to their affection of you. At certain affection milestones, you will start to notice changes! Particularly, different milestones correspond with different wolf portraits and flavor text. You can view how much affection you have with a wolf by hovering over the hearts beneath their portrait. |

Dateable Wolf Decors
| Throughout your gifting and dating, you may start to become attached to the NPCs! Or, start to wonder what the point of gaining their affection might be. Luckily, gaining affection with NPCs isn't just a method of gaining currency! Once you reach 50 Affection with an NPC, you will be able to claim a grand prize! You will be able to tell that you've reached this point once all of the NPC's hearts are filled. |  |
After this point, visit their page to find that a new button has become available. Clicking on this button will credit you with a decor item featuring the dateable wolf! You can get one decor for every NPC you reach 50 Affection with, you don't have to pick and choose. These unique new decor items are intended to be used alongside a Translucent Jellyfish, and are distinguished from other decor items by their pink border. Transulent Jellyfish can be purchased from the Grove for 4 GC.
Each decor item has 20 uses and can be traded among players, meaning you can sell any that you don't want to keep for yourself. There is not a way to move this decor behind your normal wolf, or edit it to fit alongside them. Since these decors were designed with the Translucent Jellyfish in mind, they likely will not fit alongside your wolf normally. You can view each wolf's decor in the All Dateable Wolves section of this page.

Event Shop
The Boutique of Delights, found on the Events page, is where you can spend your Lovebugs in exchange for decorations, backgrounds, and applicators!
The event shop is broken up into 3 different tiers which open on specific dates. Each tier opens at the same time for everybody-actions you take individually do not affect the shop opening for you. The dates of the shop openings are currently unknown, as the dates used in the 2023 run of the event were temporary due to the event beginning a bit late.
