It's the season of love! The local wolves are mixing and mingling, excited to find their match. This month, work with a new friend to build long-lasting pairings and meet romantic interests of your own!

The Matchmaker event is a recurring event happening every February and lasting the whole month. The event begins at 00:00 on February 1st and ends at 23:59 on February 28th or 29th.

The Matchmaker event has a variety of event-exclusive activites and new mechanics to explore. Not only do you get to form matches between other wolves, but you get to date wolves yourself!

This event has an exclusive currency, Lovebugs, which are obtained through exploring, dating, and matchmaking. Lovebugs can be exchanged in the event shop for special items!

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I pick "I want to be a matchmaker" or "Match me!" at the start of the event? What does it affect?

Your answer to this question asked by Eranthis at the start of the event only affects which of these two mechanics you'll learn first. If you choose "I want to be a matchmaker", Eranthis will walk you through the introduction to matchmaking and you'll be able to learn about Dating later when you visit the Dating page. If you choose "Match me!", the events occur the other way around. Besides this, the choice has no other effects on the event.

Why does the event ask me how I identify? Does my chosen gender identity matter?

When the event was first released, players would only be able to date wolves who were attracted to their chosen gender identity. However, this mechanic has been removed. While all players are able to date all characters, the NPCs you get first are influenced by your chosen gender identity. You will get NPCs who are attracted to your chosen identity first, and all other NPCs after. For example, if you chose Male, you will get all NPCs interested to Male first, and the remainder after you have all NPCs who are interested in Male.

What are the best biomes to complete the battling quests in the storyline?

We recommend exploring in the Prairie for coyote, since the Prairie has two different packs that you can encounter. For whitetail bucks, blacktailed bucks, or muskox, you could explore in the Deciduous Forest where those deer frequent, or the Tundra where you could encounter a Muskox Herd. Herds and packs count as 3 animals for these quests- if you battle a Coyote Pack, you'll have defeated 3 coyotes.

Is there an easier way to find specific items to give to a wolf besides searching for them in the list?

Yes! There's a trick that allows you to quickly find all of a specific type of item in the gift list based on the item's category. In the search bar, enter "Type:" followed by the category you're searching for. For example, if you want to sort your list to show only food items, enter "Type:Food" into the search bar. You can filter your item list by the following categories: Amusement, Food, Herb, Decoration, or Other.

Some event-exclusive items may be found while exploring during this event, while interacting with event explore encounters. These special items are used in dating. Some wolves have a preference for these items while some dislike them. Multiple of these items have been added to background crafting recipes, and it's expected that others will be added to recipes in the future.

Each flower can be found in a specific biome from event explore encounters. Explore in the biome listed below a flower for a chance to find that flower! Currently, most of these flowers are just used for dating, but Arctic Draba, Fireweed, and Siskiyou Iris are used in background crafting recipes!

Each gem can be found during a specific time of day or weather. They can be found in any biome whose conditions match their requirements. For example, the biome you are exploring in must have the Snow weather condition in order to find a Diamond. Multiple gems can be found at one time depending on the weather and the time of day. Currently, most of these gems are just used for dating, but Amethyst, Moonstone, and Sunstone are used in background crafting recipes!

Achievements

Alongside this event comes 12 achievements you can work hard to earn! You can find these on the Events tab of your Achievements page, which you can get to from your Profile page or the dropdown by your username. These achievements can only be earned during this event, so get them while you can! None of these achievements provide any reward, but marking them as complete can be satisfying!

Perfect Date
	Go on a date with an NPC and get a score of +8.
	In order to achieve this, your personality, eyes, and base must be liked by your date, and you must send them to their preferred biome with their preferred gift.

Worst Nightmare
	Go on a date with an NPC and get a score of -8.
	In order to achieve this, your personality, eyes, and base must be disliked by your date, and you must send them to a disliked biome with a disliked gift.

Meet the Matchmaker

Meet the Matchmaker

During the Matchmaker event, meet a new character, Eranthis, the owner of a matchmaking business! They're very interested in helping other wolves find love, even if they're not partial to it for themself.

The event features a brief storyline accessible on the Events page through clicking the Meet the Matchmaker banner. Eranthis will introduce you to the event's two primary mechanics, Matchmaking and Dating, and guide you throughout the course of the month!

Daily Quests

Daily Quests

After you've started the Meet the Matchmaker storyline, you'll have access to daily quests which will grant Lovebugs, new applicants to your matchmaking agency, and one new dateable wolf if you don't already have them all! It's important that you complete a daily quest every day if you want access to as many dateable wolves as possible, and therefore as much currency as possible.

You can take the quest once per rollover from the Matchmaker page, and it's the same quest every day. Eranthis will task you with advertising their matchmaking agency to other 5 wolves who you come across while exploring. In order to complete this quest, you can just explore normally! When you happen across a befriendable wolf or a solo battle enemy wolf, you'll notice a new option has appeared. Spreading the Word to one wolf will count as one wolf for your quest. After you've done this five times, you can navigate back to the Matchmaker page to complete the quest.

The reward for completing a daily quest is 5 Lovebugs. You will also get 5 new applicants to your matchmaking agency and one new dateable wolf. If you've already obtained all of the dateable wolves you're able to, that part of the reward will be left out.

If you don't complete the quest before rollover, it will reset, and you will have to start over with a new quest the next day, so make sure you get your quest finished before rollover!

Matchmaking

At the beginning of the event, Eranthis will introduce you to Matchmaking! Matchmaking is one of two primary event activities you'll be able to explore for an opportunity to gain event currency. You can access Matchmaking through the Matchmaker page, and the Matching banner.

Matchmaking tasks you with pairing wolves who've applied to your matchmaking agency. Gather applicants, send out dates, and form matches of compatible wolves! In addition to Lovebug rewards, making matches between wolves in your matchmaking agency will help progress the storyline.

Upon visiting the Matchmaking page, you'll find three tabs. The Matching tab is where you can set up dates between wolves in your agency. The Current Wolves tab is where you can view all of the wolves you currently have in your agency. Finally, the Dates tab is where you can view any of the active dates you've sent out.

Finding Single Wolves for Your Agency

In order to start pairing wolves together and setting up dates, you'll need wolves to join your matchmaking agency. You'll start the event with seven wolves in your agency, eager to meet their matches, and you'll have plenty of opportunity to gather more wolves throughout the event!

There are two ways for wolves to be recruited into your agency. Once per hour, you may Check for Applicants on the Current Wolves tab of the Matchmaking page. Doing so will add one application to your application queue. You may also receive five new applications from completing one daily quest.

After a wolf has applied to join your agency, if your agency isn't currently full, you can choose to accept the wolf's application. If your agency is full, you can simply keep their application waiting until there's space. There is no limit to the amount of applications that can be in your queue waiting to be processed.

You can have a total of 10 wolves in your agency at any given time.

The wolves who you can recruit into your agency are completely randomly generated and can have any combination of traits and preferences! This means it may take a few tries to get wolves who are perfectly compatible, but it may be worth the wait for a larger LB reward!

If you've accepted a wolf who truly seems incompatible with any others, you may remove them from your agency by clicking the trash icon next to their name on the Current Wolves page. Removing a wolf from you agency immediately opens up a spot, allowing you to accept a new wolf if you already have an application waiting. Removing a wolf in this way does not automatically replace them. You must fill the empty spot with a new applicant yourself.

Setting up Dates

Your matchmaking agency is full of eager singles ready to date... so, what now? Once you've gotten some wolves in your agency, the next step is setting them up on dates! When setting up a date between two wolves, the goal is to pair wolves with the most likes in common and most compatibility between traits.

Each wolf has associated traits, likes, and dislikes. You can view a wolf's traits by clicking on their name on the Current Wolves page, or by selecting their name in the dropdown on the Matching page. All of these traits will be helpful in pairing them with the perfect match! The more the wolves have in common, and the more they compliment each other, the higher your Lovebug reward will be.

To get a date started, you can select a wolf from the first dropdown menu to view all of their traits and preferences. After the first wolf has been selected, the second dropdown updates with all wolves who are compatible with them. Wolves you pair must have compatible gender preferences. For example, a wolf who only like male wolves will not show up as an option for a date with a female wolf.

After you have selected two wolves, they'll share their opinions of each other to help give you an idea of how the date might go. This is based off of their compatibility, so pay close attention! For a match to be successful, you should ensure that the wolves like each others' traits, and that they have similar interests! You can use these opinions to predict how many points the date will earn. The specifics of these opinions are detailed in the Matching Point System part of this page.

After confirming the wolves' compatibility, you must select a biome for them to visit on their date and gifts for them to give to each other while they're out. Make sure that the gifts and the biome you picked correspond with each wolves' preferences!

Each date will take 15 minutes to complete. Once the wolves return, you'll earn Lovebugs as a reward!

This is a lot to take in... how can you ensure that two wolves you send on a date will be compatible enough for you to get a reward?

Before starting the date, you will be able to view the wolves' opinions on each other. This opinion affects how many points will be added to their date score based on their compatibility, with more compatible wolves earning a higher score. In addition to the points gained from the wolves' opinions on each other, make sure to send the wolves to a biome they like and provide gifts they'll enjoy to guarantee the highest reward.

Each opinion and preference and their corresponding point value is listed below.

[X] and [Y] have NOTHING in common! = -2 Conversation was awkward.

[X] and [Y] don't have much in common. = -1 Conversation was slow.

[X] and [Y] have some shared interests! = +1 Conversation was good.

[X] and [Y] have similar interests! = +2 Conversation was stimulating.

[X] and [Y] have quite a bit in common! = +3 Conversation was incredible.

[X] and [Y] have a LOT in common! = +5 Conversation was perfection.

[X] hated [Y]'s eyes/base. = -2

[X] had no opinion on [Y]'s eyes/base. = -1

[X] liked [Y]'s eyes/base. = +1

[X] LOVED [Y]'s eyes/base. = +2

[X]'s gift was hated. = -2

[X]'s gift wasn't noticed. = +0

[X]'s gift was liked. = +1

[X]'s gift was ADORED. = +2

Curious how to get a "LOVED" trait or "ADORED" gift? Unfortunately, it's all random. Each matchable wolf has a hidden "superliked" gift and traits. If you happen to randomly give them the right gift, you'll get an extra point as a reward!

After you've had wolves return from a date, you can see how well it went to decide if you'd like to match the wolves together permanently. Matching wolves will remove them from your agency, since your job is complete! You must match wolves together in order to earn the final reward and remove the wolves from your agency, just sending them on dates isn't enough. Before you make matches, however, you can send the wolves on two more dates with other wolves if you want to maximize their profits while they're in your agency.

To form a match, visit the Matchmaking page again and select the two wolves from the dropdowns. If they've been on a date before, you'll now have an option to Match them. Matching wolves will reward you with Lovebugs. The amount you get will depend on how many points the couple earned on their date. The higher the points, the more LB you'll earn, with a maximum of three per match! If the wolves don't like each other, however, they may be so unhappy with the match that they will leave without paying you! To guarantee this doesn't happy, you'll only want to pair wolves with the highest date points as possible.

In order to guarantee getting 3 LB from a match, they must have gotten 6 or more points in the date.

To guarantee 2 LB from a match, you must get higher than 1 point.

If you the date got 0 points, you will get 1 LB from the match.

If you the wolves got negative points during their date, they will be so upset with the match that they will leave without giving you any reward.

While you could spend your time pairing other wolves together, what if you want your own match? Eranthis is here to help, by finding eligible dateables for you to meet!

After completing Eranthis' introduction to dating, you'll be given three random dateable wolves. Each day after this, you'll be able to unlock one new dateable a day through completing daily quests, and additional dateables through advancing in the storyline! After you have completed 5 dates, Eranthis will introduce you to two more dateable wolves. After you have completed 15 dates, you will unlock another 2.

Preferences

Preferences

Each dateable wolf has a certain set of preferences that will determine how much affection you will be able to gain with them on each date. Some of these - personality, eye color, and base color - are related to your lead wolf's traits. The other preferences regarding gifts and biomes are related to the date itself. You can find lists of every dateable wolf's preferences in the All Dateable Wolves section of this page.

Base and Eye Categories

Each dateable wolf prefers a certain group of base and eye colors, and dislikes another. Note that these are not specific colors, but rather broad groups encompassing a few eye colors.

Base color groups are straightforward relating to Wolvden's current genetics. For example, if the dateable wolf likes Light Muted Bases, this means that they like any base in the Muted color category and the Light shade category, regardless of tier. There are currently no dateable wolves who prefer Special bases.

Eye color groups are a little bit more unique. These groups are not listed anywhere else on site and are only used within dating. These are based on the general color of the eyes. Each eye color group and the eyes associated with them are listed below. This list was last updated during the 2024 run of the event, and will be updated with new eyes since then during the 2025 event, as we discover new categorizations!

In order to build affection with dateable NPCs, you must give them gifts and go out on dates!

Gifting

You can gift each wolf one item per day on their dating page and one item per day on a date with them! Each wolf has a liked gift and a disliked gift, and everything else is just considered "okay". If you want to gain affection quickly, make sure that you are gifting the wolf an item they like.

If the gift you give is Liked by the wolf, you will get 3 LB and +3 affection points with the wolf. If the wolf has no strong opinion about the gift you give, you will get 3 LB and +1 affection points with the wolf. If you give the wolf a gift they Dislike, you will get 3 LB and -3 affection points with the wolf.

Dates

Once a day, you can take each wolf on a date!

Each date lasts for 15 minutes, and you can only go on one date at a time. The reward for each date is 10 LB, and you may get positive or negative affection points depending on how it goes.

Before setting out, you'll have to choose which biome you want to visit. Each wolf has two liked biomes and two disliked biomes. Every other biome is just considered "okay". You can only go on a date to a biome you've fully unlocked and scouted. You can also choose to give the wolf a gift. Giving a gift on the date is optional, but strongly recommended as it can sway points in the right direction.

Based on how the date goes, it will be assigned a point value. These points will then be converted into affection points! So, if you get a total date score of +7, you will also get +7 affection with the wolf.

The point values for each trait in dates are listed below. In order to get a perfect score, +8, on a date, you must match all of the wolf's preferences exactly. If none of the wolf's likes or dislikes are included on the date, you will not receive any affection changes.

Liked Personality: +1 [X] seemed to enjoy your company.

Liked Eyes: +1 [X] couldn't seem to stop staring into your eyes.

Liked Base: +1 [X] complimented your luscious fur.

Liked Gift: +3 [X] enjoyed the gift you brought.

Liked Biome: +2 [X] enjoyed the scenery and seemed comfortable in the date location.

Disliked Personality: -1 [X] seemed irritated by your company.

Disliked Eyed: -1 [X] didn't make good eye contact with you.

Disliked Base: -1 [X] seemed less than impressed by your fur.

Disliked Gift: -3 [X] left the gift you brought behind... was it an accident?

Disliked Biome: -2 [X] complained a lot about the location of the date.

Affection Milestones

Through gifting and going on dates, you will gain affection points with dateable wolves! Giving wolves gifts they like or love, visiting biomes they enjoy, and having traits they favor all contribute positively to their affection of you. On the other hand, giving wolves gifts they dislike, visiting biomes they don't enjoy, and having traits they dislike will contribute negatively to their affection of you. At certain affection milestones, you will start to notice changes! Particularly, different milestones correspond with different wolf portraits and flavor text. You can view how much affection you have with a wolf by hovering over the hearts beneath their portrait.

Raising affection with dateable NPCs isn't just a method of gaining currency! Once Tier 3 of the shop opens, you will be able to claim a prize from every dateable who you've reached 50 affection with. You will be able to tell that you've reached this point once all of the NPC's hearts are filled. Affection does not change if you don’t interact with the wolf, so if you get to 50 Affection before Tier 3 opens, you can focus your attention on other NPCs and claim the decor later!

Once Tier 3 is open, visit a max affection dateable's page to find that a new button has become available. Clicking on this button will credit you with a decor item featuring the dateable wolf! You can get one decor for every NPC you reach 50 Affection with, you don't have to pick and choose. If you got that wolf's decoration the previous year, you can still get the decor again this year, but you can only get one per dateable per year.

These decorations automatically hide the wolf that they're applied to to make it as if the dateable wolf is in your pack. These decors are distinguishable by their pink frames, which indicate that they are the type to hide your wolf without the use of a Translucent Jellyfish. There is no way to make your wolf appear in the frame with the dateable wolf decor, as you wolf is hidden automatically and there is no toggle.

Each decor item has 20 uses and can be traded among players, meaning you can sell any that you don't want to keep for yourself. You can view each wolf's decor in the All Dateable Wolves section of this page.

The Boutique of Delights, found on the Events page, is where you can spend your Lovebugs in exchange for decorations, backgrounds, and applicators!

The event shop is broken up into 3 different tiers which open on specific dates. Each tier opens at the same time for everybody. Actions you take individually do not affect the shop's opening dates for you or for anyone else, they are set.
