Combo Bases

Combo bases are some of Wolvden's rarest bases, obtained through breeding under very limited parameters! These bases must be bred using specific bases, called "factors", which combine to form the combo, similar to combo markings. They cannot be bred with similar genetics like regular bases can-they must be bred using factors!

You can tell if a base is a combo base by looking at its genetics on a wolf. So far, there are only three combo bases: Glownoise, Moonloss, and Selunia.

Combo Base Breeding

Have your sights on obtaining a combo base? Here's everything that you will need to keep in mind while breeding for these rare bases!

Combo bases are bred using "factors". A combo base factor is an individual base that one parent must have in order for a combo base to result. For example, the factor bases for Selunia are Selene and Luna. One parent must have the base Selene, and one parent must have the base Luna in order for a Selunia combo base to be possible from the breeding.

If you have a combo base already, and you want to breed more combos from it, don't worry! You can get a combo base from itself, as long as it's being bred to one of its factors. For example, a Selunia wolf may produce a Selunia pup if it is bred to a Selene, Luna, or Selunia wolf. Breeding a Selunia wolf to any other base besides itself or its factors has no chance to produce a Selunia base.

In all cases, the chance for getting a combo base is very small.

If you are breeding a combo base, the pool of possible results will be generated like any regular breeding. For example, a Special Dark combo base will be able to breed the same bases as a regular Special Dark base. However, unlike a regular Special Dark base, the combo base may only produce itself if it is bred to itself or a factor. For example, breeding Selunia (Special Light Combo) to Dust (Monochrome Light I) will be able to result in any Monochrome Light base, but never Selunia. Breeding Selunia (Special Light Combo) to Luna (Special Medium) will be able to result in any Light or Medium base, alongside Selunia and Luna, since Luna is a factor of Selunia.

Special Conditions

Special Conditions

All current combo bases require a special condition to be bred. This condition must be met when the breeding occurs, not when the pups are born.

Lunar Event combo bases, such as Selunia and Moonloss, must be bred at night time. This refers to Wolvden time, not real life time. You can view the current time of day on Wolvden on the sidebar panel next to your lead wolf's image. If a moon is visible in this sidebar card, it is currently night time, like in the example below.

The Cooldowns page will also share the current time of day as well as how many minutes are left until the next change.

If you breed Lunar combo base factors together during dawn, day, or dusk, the combo base will not be possible. The same is true if you breed a Lunar combo base to its factor during dawn, day, or dusk. In both cases, the combo base cannot be bred. It must be night time during all combo base breedings in order for a Lunar combo base to be possible.
