Basic Encounters

A lone wolf crosses your path, both lost and sad. Thinking he may know something about what's been going on, you approach him.
What happened?	"I was responsible for them... two young wolves from my pack went missing during a hunting lesson yesterday. I can't return without them." There is clear determination but no hope in his voice and you just listen in silence. You offer up some information about your journey and some possible clues that may help. The wolf gratefully gives you something he found while looking for the puppies.	+1 Smoky Quartz

A young wolf is cowering on the ground, its eyes white and wide with terror.
Are you okay?	"The lights... they keep following me... I can't... escape them..." The young wolf splutters her words out between gasping breaths. Before you can reply to ask more, she gets up and runs away, leaving you clueless. What lights? Oh--she left something behind. You quickly swipe it up.	+1 Smoky Quartz

This wolf's behavior seems odd and you have no idea what it is but it's giving off strange vibes. He's looking around with a puzzled expression as if he were born today or completely lost.
Come closer	You approach the wolf and he is visibly relieved. "Finally! A friendly face. Where are we? What are these strange plants?" The wolf continues to chatter on, asking question after question that even a young pup would know. Maybe he wasn't from around here? Yet there's something off about him, and you can't help but wonder if there's something else going on. While he's distracted by a plant, you slip away. A few steps away, you find a strange object, which you decide to take. Maybe it will help you solve these mysteries.	+1 Smoky Quartz

Two curious pups are sniffing and playing around the weirdest mushrooms you've ever seen. You're no expert, but they definitely don't look edible.
Warn	You approach to warn the pups not to eat or lick the mushrooms, explaining to them that they aren't native to this land and may cause them to get sick. The pups agree not to touch them again and to inform the herbalist of their pack as soon as possible. You inspect the mushrooms yourself to be sure, and you notice a small object tucked between them.	+1 Smoky Quartz

You check the way ahead of you but if there was anything strange here before, it's gone now. The young wolf gathers his courage after hearing the good news. You follow him for a while to make sure he's safe. A small, oddly shaped object catches your attention for a moment, but when you look back up, the wolf is nowhere to be seen.	+1 Smoky Quartz

An exhausted looking wolf chances upon you, and seems relieved to see someone to talk to. He asks about his lost son who disappeared the day before.
Stop	"After hearing a description and sniffing his scent, you don't have good news but you promise to contact him in case you find any trace of him. A wolf hurries to get past you, carrying a strange plant in its mouth. The plant looks weird, and unlike any you've seen before.
What have you got there?	The wolf looks at you incredulously for a moment before tilting his head to better reveal the plant. It's small and green, with four egg-shaped leaves, and a mop of white fluffy petals on top. The wolf drops the herb to speak. "It's clover, obviously. Don't you know your herbs?" Bewildered by your blank expression, the wolf scoops it back up again and walks off, shaking his head as he goes. You notice a small object kicked up by the wolf's paws and tuck it away for safekeeping.	+1 Smoky Quartz

A young wolf is walking alone, looking both excited and confused. His face lights up when he noticed you and it's clear that he can barely contain himself.
Tell me everything you know	"This is incredible! I thought I know this area well, all the good hunting spots and all... but something strange is happening lately." The young wolf keeps describing animals and plants you've never seen or heard of before. At some point, you're not sure if this kid is making things up or not, but his emotions seem trie. To try to convince you more, he gives you a strange thing he found next to some of the unknown plants.	+1 Smoky Quartz

You come upon a wolf laying very still and staring off into the distance, appearing to be deep in thought.
Is something wrong?	"Everything is wrong. The world as we know it is changing. I've seen them... the lights. They keep appearing out of nowhere. Following me, haunting my dreams... Listen to me and escape somewhere safe. This land is cursed and it all started from this. I found that thing a couple of days ago. Do me a favor and destroy it, maybe it will change something for the better." The old wolf doesn't even let you get a word in edgeways, and pushes an object into your paws. A tall, graceful bird is standing ahead of you on one leg, relaxed and unaware of your presence. It reminds you of a heron, but the scent is wrong, and you feel uneasy as you study it.
Attack	This is a perfect moment. You manage to creep up and snatch the bird successfully before it could even spread its wings!	+1 Smoky Quartz 15% Hunger OR Energy
	You decide to cautiously approach, crouching low into a stalking position. The bird's keen eyes notice you before you take more than a few steps. You follow its silhouette in the sky until it disappears, wondering where it came from. Turning back to continue on your way, you come across a small object in the dirt. It smells funny just like the bird did, but you take it with you anyway.	+1 Smoky Quartz

A strange, ginger rodent is sitting comfortably on the ground, minding its own business. It's definitely a squirrel but why is it so bright? And why are its ears so pointy?
Sniff it	You go a bit closer to check out this strange fur. Is it even real? Is this squirrel ill, or is it a new mutation? You want to ask this question but when you open your mouth, the squirrel escapes in fear, leaving the tiny object it was holding in its paws.	+1 Smoky Quartz
Chase it	The chase was short, and soon you are devouring the squirrel, which tastes just like any other squirrel you'd eaten before. You're a bit disappointed. Before you leave, you notice a piece of dark rock on the ground. This must have been what the squirrel was playing with, and you snatch it up quickly.	+1 Smoky Quartz 10% Hunger

You notice an unfamiliar animal among the bushes.
Who are you?	As you come closer, you realise that this creature is not completely alien to you but its pattern is different to others you have seen. The creature looks at you, puzzled, and your expression is probably similar. You've seen badgers many times before - perhaps this was a new mutation? The creature in front of you is somewhat similar but larger, darker, more fluffy, and supposedly friendly. Almost cute. The badgers you know are snarling, hostile balls of ruffled fur. After a while, he leaves you with your doubts. You notice a small object on the ground. It probably belonged to the creature but you take it to inspect it later.	+1 Smoky Quartz

A strange bird walks in front of you cautiously, inspecting the area. Its reddish plumage draws your attention. It stands out oddly in this land, and it's unlike any bird you've seen before. Its scent is also unfamiliar to your nose.
Approach	You want to take a closer look--there's something weird about this bird and you want to figure out just what it is. Unfortunately the bird sees your approach as a danger, and it flies away. You notice something falling from its feather and quickly scoop it up.	+1 Smoky Quartz
Chase	At first you only wanted a closer look, but now... well, you're certainly hungry and it probably tastes like chicken. The bird may not be from around here, but it's no challenge to you.	5% Hunger

You cannot tell if it's a snake, a lizard or a worm. It shows snake-like movement but is much slower and it's amusing to observe it.
Poke it	You touch the creature with your nose, making it move further away. You notice it was resting on a strange, small object and take it with you.	+1 Smoky Quartz
Eat it	The creature isn't very fast and you feel it's time for a small snack!	3% Hunger

A beautiful cat is sitting in front of you in a relaxed pose, sending you a slow blink. What a charming creature.
Play	You approach the cat with curiosity, sniffing its thick fur and nosing it gently. The cat sits still, clearly annoyed and waiting for you to go away. Its patience doesn't last long, and after a bit it jumps down and disappears into the bushes. You want to run after the cat, but the glint of something on the ground where the cat was sitting catches your attention.	+1 Smoky Quartz
	The cat jumps down upon noticing you. It looks scared at first, but then you hear a soft purring sound. The cat starts to roll joyfully on the ground, playing with something. You want to join but your intimidating presence frightens the cat when you go closer. It runs away quickly, leaving its small toy behind: a small white clover! Might be useful in the future.	1 White Clover
	The cat senses your playful mood and jumps down with a purring sound, touching your legs softly with its tail. It begins to play with a long, shiny feather in delight. It's a cute sight, and you decide to join in. You jump playfully, trying to be as gentle as possible, but your paws are too heavy and your body too strong for such a little creature. The cat looks incredulously at you and leaps away, observing you from a safe distance. Well, at least you tried. It left the feather behind too, and you snatch it before it can come back to get it.	1 Magpie Feather

A playful hooded crow lands nearby, holding something in its beak. It hops around playfully, trying to get your attention with its little treasure.
Attack	You tilt your head slightly, observing the bird for a while. You usually find crows and ravens funny but this one is somewhat irritating. You bark and tried to catch it, but the crow is faster. When it's finally gone, you notice it left something behind.	+2 Smoky Quartz
	You observe the bird for a while, but as time passes you find its presence increasingly annoying. You snap your jaws at the crow without any warning when it hops closer and kill it with one bite. You don't feel any remorse. Serves it right for approaching a hungry wolf so carelessly.	+1 Smoky Quartz 1 Crow Skull
Play	Both the crow and its little trinkets are equally interesting to you. In a playful mood, you want to take a closer look - but you are too fast and too clumsy, which scares the bird away immediately! Now you can see what the crow was playing with - it's yours now anyway.	+3 Smoky Quartz
	You have some free time to spare. Bird watching can be really relaxing when you're not in the mood to eat them. The crow was playing with its shiny trinkets, showing and hiding them as you were trying to take a closer look. Finally, it revealed all three objects, throwing two of them in your direction. 	You are in the mood for a break from your travels, so you decide to pause for a bit and play with the bird. The crow jumps here and there on the branch, allowing you to look at the shiny object it holds, but not for too long. Your curiosity is growing while your patience runs thin, and you poke the crow gently, letting out an excited whine. Suddenly you feel something being placed on the top of your head. It apparently considers you cute and has left you a gift. The crow flies away in a flurry of feathers before you have the chance to thank it.	+1 Smoky Quartz

At first, you can't identify the strange sound above your head, but then you notice an interesting bird occupied with feasting on an acorn. It's a nutcracker, focused on its meal so strongly that it doesn't notice you.
Offer Acorn*	At first, you were just observing the nutcracker in silence, wondering if it would become aware of you at any point - but it was too busy. After it finishes its acorn, you decide to offer it one of your own: which surprises the bird, encouraging it to move closer. Birds are always well-informed and they bring news from distant places, so you spend some time on some friendly chat. As you're about to leave, the bird decides to show some of its trinkets with you, returning your kind gesture.	+1 Smoky Quartz 2 Grouse Feathers 5 HP
Let's Chat	Barking isn't enough; you have to jump up towards the branch to make the bird look at you. As expected, it isn't happy at first but it cheers up as soon as you start a friendly chat. When the bird's acorn falls down from the branch, you wait for it to fly away so you can snatch the prize. You genuinely enjoyed the talk, but the acorn is much more useful in the end.	+1 Smoky Quartz 1 Acorn
	You have to bark two or three times to get the bird's attention. It looks annoyed at first but its playful nature eventually wins over its reluctant attitude. You talk for a while and the more time you spend together, the more talkative the bird becomes. In the end, you mostly listen, nod, and look for an excuse to leave. Eventually you manage to get away with stories buzzing in your ears that you can't wait to tell your pack.	+1 Smoky Quartz 2 HP
