Befriending wolves involves a minigame of selecting the right moves for the wolf's personality.
When a wolf is first found, it is not normally possible to see what kind of personality the wolf has. Not knowing this strange wolf's personality makes it difficult to know which moves would be best to use. Making a first move in the befriending minigame will reveal the wolf's personality group, or disposition, in the top right corner of the befriending screen. After you know what the wolf's disposition is, you can make the choices that will work best with that wolf.

One of the following icons will be visible in the top right corner of the befriending screen through the minigame to represent the wolf's disposition.

After you know the wolf's disposition, you can choose which actions to take to befriend a wolf. Each action affects the wolf in a negative or positive way depending on their disposition.
Every turn during the befriending minigame, you are given four options of moves to take. You can only select one of the options and, after you have selected it, all four options will be reshuffled.
[[File:befriendingmoves.png]]
After you have made a move, you will notice that the wolf's mood will change. This is represented by the set of arrows at the top of the befriending menu.

The more green arrows that are filled up, the more likely it will be for you to befriend the wolf. If all ten green arrows are filled, you are guaranteed to befriend the wolf. If less than ten green arrows are filled, there is a chance that the wolf will leave.
The table below lists every move and its effects on wolves with certain dispositions. Note that these are not confirmed numbers, just those observed by other players, so this chart is regularly updated with new numbers.

Befriending Basics

Befriending Basics

Befriending wolves is the easiest way to expand your pack and advance in the game. You can also purchase wolves from the Trading Center or receive them in gifts from other players, but finding the wolves yourself while exploring is the first method you learn!

Befriending wolves is unlocked after finishing the "Pack Life" quest, during which Tala will help you befriend your first pack member. After this you will occasionally come across wolves while exploring that can be befriended. Befriending a wolf will allow them to join your pack.

File:Wolfinexpore.png Befriend-able wolf art in explore.

The process of befriending involves a minigame in which the correct choices must be selected based on the personality of the wolf. Though it is possible to encounter befriendable wolves at any time, you must have an empty adult slot available in your territory in order to attempt to befriend them.

Finding

Finding Wolves While Exploring

There are a few explore encounters through which you can find a wolf to befriend. The most common encounters involve a simple choice between befriending or attacking the strange wolf. Another encounter can reveal a befriendable wolf if you choose the right option.

Selecting "Befriend" in this encounter will bring you to the befriending minigame. Selecting "Attack" will start a battle with a certain kind of wolf depending on which biome you are in. The level of the wolf has no effect on the wolf you befriend -- it only affects the wolf you battle. If you choose to befriend the wolf but then change your mind, you are able to Attack them during the befriending and they will still have the same level as was displayed in the encounter.

Selecting "Follow the sweet scent" in this encounter will bring you to a befriendable wolf, providing you have an empty territory slot. Selecting any other option will lead to item rewards.

Unlocking

Unlocking New Territory Slots

New territory slots can be purchased at the bottom of your Den page. As you buy more slots, the price will increase. After you have purchased 51 slots, the required currency changes from SC to GC. The maximum amount of territory slots one pack can have is 200.

The Befriending Process

The Befriending Process

After you know the wolf's disposition, you can choose which actions to take to befriend a wolf. Each action affects the wolf in a negative or positive way depending on their disposition.

Every turn during the befriending minigame, you are given four options of moves to take. You can only select one of the options and, after you have selected it, all four options will be reshuffled.
